In Dr. Barrow's New Book, Her Character, Malia Wants You to Learn a Little Swahili and a Little About Kenya

With most of the story set in Kenya, Dr. Molly Barrow's new book, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure offers an insight into many African cultural differences, very different from what Malia is accustomed to, coming from a small town in Illinois. At first she finds it difficult, but then learns to appreciate the differences from her experiences and even learns a little Swahili from her new friends in this far off and very different land. Throughout the book, Dr. Barrow uses many swahili words and phrases she learned herself visiting her father in Kenya.

Dr. Barrow has utilized the back pages of the book to teach the readers a little Swahili. She has a list of common English words and their translations, plus specific Swahili words a visitor to Kenya would need to know. Also, there is a map of Africa and the exact location of Kenya, plus a short description and history of this very interesting African nation. These pages are a great addition to a wonderful adventure story embedded with self esteem building messages, as Malia and her dog Teacup encounter one misadventure after another.
