Every children's book author today dreams of being the next J.K. Rowling and their book being the next Harry Potter.
The Harry Potter series was a unique phenomenon. Will there be another children's author that will every enjoy the success of Rowling and her Hogwarts characters? No one knows, but praise for Dr. Barrow's unique adventure, self esteem building, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure is very strong and comments thus far have been extremely positive.
Gerald Amada, Ph.D., author and educator compares Dr. Barrow's main character, Malia to Harry. Dr. Amada states, "Malia & Teacup has the potential to effect an appreciable improvement in a child's self esteem. I think that exciting books with important social and moral themes like Malia & Teacup and Harry Potter together and over time do have the effect of improving the self esteem of children." Dr. Amada goes on to call Malia a "cultural hero, serving as the foundation of social adjustment and self esteem."
