Its always a thrill for an author to see their book on display at a Barnes & Noble outlet. Dr. Molly Barrow say her new book, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure last night residing on the book shelves at her local B & N.
Even though, not her first book, she found the experience of seeing her book prominently displayed with cover out very satisfying. "After years of work, to see the book finally on the shelves is very gratifying, indeed. The cover stood out among the other books which also was quite nice," Dr. Barrow stated. " I hope children will enjoy the book and will capture the messages that have been infused within the book about building high self esteem. Merchandising a New Book - Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure, by Dr. Molly Barrow

Merchandising a new book really depends on the genre of the book and its appeal. Like the brilliant merchandising of Harry Potter, Dr. Barrow's new book Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure lends itself to a host of marketing items. The Web site for the book, displays a number of wonderful products, including T-shirts for children and adults, hats, tote bags, mouse pads, note pads, and soon to be added, holiday gifts. Each item is emblazoned with one of the fantastic illustrations from the book. The cuteness of the iconic illustration of Malia's tiny dog, Teacup sitting in a teacup is perfect for young girls, moms and grandmas. The fierce looking gorilla is an ideal T-shirt image for boys, dads and grandpas. The book is the first in the series of hilarious adventures of the dynamic duo. A series lends itself beautifully to an online store, as each year a new book is published and the branding of the series continues to grow. The marketing of the book, its imagery and products becomes an industry that caters to the fan base as the popularity of the books expand, like the phenomenal success of the Harry Potter series.

Dr. Molly Barrow Wants All Children to Be Salama Kids

Dr. Molly Barrow, psychologist and author of the fascinating new children's book, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure, hopes all kids will be Salama Kids. Salama is swahili for "safe." In her very important book, the main character, Malia takes a journey of self discovery, and while visiting her father in Kenya, learns many important lessons. Dr. Barrow has infused self esteem building messages throughout this hilarious adventure story. Self esteem is the single most important factor for a child's safety, building their self worth to empower them to make the correct  safety decisions. Building self esteem, and being a Salama Kid, will help keep children safe from predators and bullies. Children with high self esteem are less likely to drop out of school, or indulge and drug and alcohol abuse.

A Salama Kid Tells - Many children don't posses the self esteem to tell adults when their safety is in danger. This is a key factor for their self protection, to let others know there is a problem, and they are in a dangerous situation. They must know that it is okay to tell, and that with them telling they not only help themselves but other children as well.

Dr. Molly Barrow's Malia & Teacup...The Next Harry Potter?

Every children's book author today dreams of being the next J.K. Rowling and their book being the next Harry Potter.
The Harry Potter series was a unique phenomenon. Will there be another children's author that will every enjoy the success of Rowling and her Hogwarts characters?  No one knows, but praise for Dr. Barrow's unique adventure, self esteem building, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure is very strong and comments thus far have been extremely positive.

Dr. Amada states, "Malia & Teacup has the potential to effect an appreciable improvement in a child's self esteem. I think that exciting books with important social and moral themes like Malia & Teacup and Harry Potter together and over time do have the effect of improving the self esteem of children." Dr. Amada goes on to call Malia a "cultural hero, serving as the foundation of social adjustment and self esteem." Mythbuster - Dr. Molly Barrow Says, "Stranger Danger Does Not Work."

Although the Stranger Danger program means well, Dr. Molly Barrow, author of the new children's must read, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure, believes the program falls short in many ways, and should not be relied upon as the solution to a huge problem. There are a number of reasons the program is outdated and just ineffective. 50% of child abuse and kidnapping is perpetrated by someone the child knows. Predators are not always strangers. They can be friends of the parents, relatives, members of a church, teachers or coaches. Telling children never to talk to strangers could actually do more harm than good. If they are seeking help and the only help available is a stranger, the mixed message can confuse the child and they will not seek the necessary help.

In Dr. Barrow's children's book, ages 9 and up, her main character, Malia learns through a series of exciting events that self esteem is the key to safety. Dr. Barrow has cleverly embedded self esteem building messages throughout her fun, adventure tale. She says, "Self esteem is the single most important factor in keeping children safe. It gives them the psychological armor they need and the empowerment to resist predators." To learn more about Dr. Barrow, her new book and self esteem building for children please visit www.maliaandteacup.com and drmollybarrow.com.

Dr. Molly Barrow's New Book, Malia & Teacup is Much More Than Just a Hilarious Adventure Story for Ages 9 and Up.

Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure by Dr. Molly Barrow is much more than just a fun, adventure story kids will lover to read. This mysterious tale of a young girl and her tiny dog is embedded with self esteem building messages as Malia confronts one misadventure after another on her journey of self discovery. The back pages include information about Kenya and Swahili vocabulary plus two extremely important pages named, Creep Alert, Malia says to be safe by following these salama rules. Salama is Swahili for safe. Dr. Barrow lists 10 important points for kids to follow to remain safe from  predators and bullies, which she calls "Creeps."  For example, Here is point #1 - Anyone can be a Creep. A Creep can be old or young male or female, scary or funny, and even nice at first. Sometimes a creep is a stranger who tries to talk to you or follow you. Half the time, he or she is someone you know really well, like a "friend", sitter, or even a relative. A Salama Kid makes a big loud fuss, and always tells everyone about the behavior of the Creep.

These ten steps are designed to keep the kids safe in language that is age appropriate, 9 and up, to be discussed by the parents and their children.

Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure Embraces Different Cultures

Spending your summer vacation in a far off land with a very different culture has its challenges. Malia leaves her Midwestern home and travels to Kenya to spend the summer with her estranged father, in Dr. Molly Barrow's new and exciting adventure tale, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure. She receives a rude welcoming upon her arrival in Kenya from customs until she is rescued by her father's local Kenyan cook, which begins a true friendship with the tall African man and his family. Malia learns many customs, the local language and plays and dances with the local children. This is a far cry from her somewhat sheltered upbringing in a small Illinois town, where everyone for the most part looks the same. She learns to embrace the differences and her summer becomes an enriching experience because as she learns many life lessons, one she will always keep is her compassion and openness toward a different culture, and the true friends she met that summer in Africa. The book teaches Malia many lessons that help build her self esteem and find love, compassion and her own self worth. The book is for ages 9 and up and will be enjoyed by both boys and girls.

In Dr. Barrow's New Book, Her Character, Malia Wants You to Learn a Little Swahili and a Little About Kenya

With most of the story set in Kenya, Dr. Molly Barrow's new book, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure offers an insight into many African cultural differences, very different from what Malia is accustomed to, coming from a small town in Illinois. At first she finds it difficult, but then learns to appreciate the differences from her experiences and even learns a little Swahili from her new friends in this far off and very different land. Throughout the book, Dr. Barrow uses many swahili words and phrases she learned herself visiting her father in Kenya.

Dr. Barrow has utilized the back pages of the book to teach the readers a little Swahili. She has a list of common English words and their translations, plus specific Swahili words a visitor to Kenya would need to know. Also, there is a map of Africa and the exact location of Kenya, plus a short description and history of this very interesting African nation. These pages are a great addition to a wonderful adventure story embedded with self esteem building messages, as Malia and her dog Teacup encounter one misadventure after another.

Dr. Molly Barrow's Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure is Slightly Biographical

Dr. Molly Barrow, author of Barringer Publishing's new release Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure has based her story partially on her own experiences. Dr. Barrow, like her character, Malia is from a small town in Illinois. And like her character the very curious Malia, Dr. Barrow visited her father in Kenya. Although the circumstances were quite different, Dr. Barrow visited her father who was working for the state department as an architect. He had built a very successful firm in Illinois, designing public schools. In the book Malia is reunited with her estranged father who is a mystery to her, is he a spy? Who does he work for? These questions and many others are answered in the book as Malia and her little dog face one mishap after another in this frolicking adventure. Dr. Barrow has embedded her messages of self esteem building throughout the book, just as she has explained in her practice as a clinical psychologist. How a child values themselves is the first line of defense in dangerous situations. Like Malia in the book, Dr. Barrow as a child faced many interesting situations traveling from Illinois to Africa, which she says helped build her character and self esteem. She says "high self esteem is psychological armor for children."

Why Did Dr. Barrow Select the Name Malia for her Heroic Character

How did Dr. Molly Barrow select the name Malia for the lead character in her new book and soon to be series, Malia & Teacup. Dr Barrow's first name Molly is actually a nickname for her real name, Mary. All of the women in her family are named Mary, so it is common for each of them to select a nickname, as things could get a little confusing during family get togethers. Malia is a variant of Mary, and has a number of origins and meanings. The most widely accepted is that the name has Hawaiian origins, and means calm and peaceful. Dr. Barrow has a Hawaiian connection, her adopted son, Kekoa was born in Hawaii. Another origin of the name is Hebrew and also Swahili. In Swahili, Malia means queen, and is a common name in Kenya.
Dr. Barrow spent time in Kenya for many years visiting her father, who worked for the state department in Mombasa.

So, as we celebrate the release of Dr. Barrow's first children's book, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure we celebrate the name, Malia, certainly a beautiful name. The Hawaiian meaning, calm and peaceful has little to do with her character in this fun, adventure book. The character Malia is anything but calm and peaceful as she sets out on her African journey of self discovery and on the way is challenged by hilarious and dangerous misadventures. Dr. Barrow, a clinical psychologist, has embedded strong self esteem building messages throughout the book. High self esteem is the single most important factor to the safety of a child.

Dr.Molly Barrow, the Mary Poppins of Child Psychology

Just as a spoonful of sugar made the medicine go down, as Mary Poppins, wonderfully played by Julie Andrews sang in the classic children's film, Dr. Molly Barrow uses the same tactic for helping children with other problems. "A spoonful of adventure makes the psychology go down," states Dr. Barrow. The concept is to reach children with important embedded messages within fun and exciting storytelling. The interesting factor and the reason it works so well is that the children do not realize they are taking the medicine. The results in her practice have been enormous, which is why Dr. Barrow has written and just released her first children's book, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure.

There is nothing that  concerns parents and grandparents more than the safety of the children. Nothing works better than self esteem building to keep them safe from predators and bullies. This is why Dr. Barrow's new fun, adventure series about a young girl and her dog is such a vital read for tweens. Written for ages 9 and up the book tells the story and misadventures of a Midwestern girl who travels to Africa to visit her estranged father and what she encounters on her trip is a her self discovery. The book is a must read for all age appropriate children and for parents and grandparents to read and discuss as well.

Dr. Molly Barrow's Empowerment Theory for Children Really Does Work

For over twenty years Dr. Molly Barrow has developed a theory that provides self esteem for children. She has perfected this theory in her private practice as a licensed mental health counselor. Counseling children of all ages and adults alike, she has seen her theory work time and time again. "Self esteem is the single most important factor to the safety of a child," states Dr. Barrow. "Parents and educators should concentrate their efforts on inspiring children to value their self worth rather than over disciplining them into compliance."

What works one-on-one should work one-on-tens of thousands. She wrote her new book, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure to do just that. Dr. Barrow brings her theory to this mysterious, funny adventure book for children, to reach not just one child as she does in her practice but to reach many. She has used humorous storytelling in her practice to explain complicated therapy concepts to children and troubled teenagers. They learn the aspects of the empowerment theory without even realizing it. The response from the children was so overwhelming she created the Malia & Teacup series to reach more children.

Dr. Molly Barrow's New Book Offers Psychological Armor for Children

How can an adventure book empower children and make them safer?
Dr. Molly Barrow's new and exciting children's book, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure illustrates complicated problem solving and demonstrates how to "stay safe by staying strong." Malia's journey of self discovery is a fast paced and fun book to read, yet the 342 page story contains hidden self esteem building messages. How a child values themselves is the first line of defense in dangerous situations against school bullies, predators and abuse. "Prevention psychology is what we need now. Children must believe they deserve to be treated well," says Dr. Barrow. Experts link low self esteem with drug and alcohol abuse, rebellion, suicide and school dropouts.

Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure introduces readers, 9 and up to important life lessons through the misadventure of Malia and her tiny poodle. Barrow says, "High self esteem is psychological armor for kids."

Barringer Publishing - Announces Launching of New Book by Dr. Molly Barrow

Barringer Publishing is happy to announce the launching of Dr. Molly Barrow's new children's adventure book, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure. It is a fun, mysterious adventure thriller readers from 9 and up will thoroughly enjoy. The book is also embedded with strong self esteem messages to help build the child's own self esteem, which as Dr. Barrow says is the most important factor to the safety of a child. Parents and educators should concentrate their efforts on inspiring children to value their self-worth rather than over-disciplining them into compliance...high self esteem is "Psychological Armor for Children."

Malia and Teacup -Awesome African Adventure is the story of a young girl facing complicated problems at home and school, who visits her estranged father in Kenya and finds more complications with new rules, a different culture and  a new step brother. Along with her new found love, a tiny dog, they survive adventure after adventure, wild elephant stampedes, pirates, thieves and much more. This is an important book, to be read and talked about by families.
