This past Saturday, Dr. Molly Barrow received a very gracious letter from the first lady on Mrs. Obama's lovely White House stationery. Dr. Barrow, author of the new children's book, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure, sent two books to the Obama girls and a letter to Mrs. Robinson, the mother of Michelle Obama. The first lady seemed pleased with Dr. Barrow's letter and that the books contained strong messages pertaining to the building of self esteem and the empowerment of children. Self esteem is the single most important factor for the safety of a child. How a child values themselves is the first line of defense in dangerous situations against school bullies, predators and abuse. "High self esteem is psychological armor for children. Children must believe they deserve to be treated well." says Dr. Barrow. The Malia & Teacup series of books are fast paced fun, adventure books, beautifully illustrated, containing hidden self esteem building messages. Readers are introduced to important life lessons through the comedic misadventures of Malia and her tiny dog.
