Today, Dr. Molly Barrow taped an interview for Fox to be aired September 17, 2009. The Fox show Morning Blend, hosted by Bill Woods and Tracey Edwards interviewed Dr. Barrow about her new book, Malia & Teacup - Awesome African Adventure. Dr. Barrow answered questions about the books important message that children will discover as they read, the hidden messages intended to build self esteem. Dr. Barrow explained in her answers that self esteem is the single most important factor for the safety of children. Mr. Woods astutely compared the building of self esteem in children to the building of a home's foundation. If the foundation is not stable the house will fall, if the child's self esteem is not built they will lack that stability for their entire lives. Mr. Woods asked Dr. Barrow how Malia builds self esteem, she is a mess, she has everything thrown at her, yet somehow she perseveres. Dr. Barrow responded by saying she meets challenges head on, fearful of the consequences yet endures and becomes victorious, building her self worth.
